Recently, I over heard a conversation at the grocery store between a dad and his daughter.
The daughter was probably no older than 11 or 12 years old and she had on her soccer uniform. She was crying uncontrollably as I heard her tell her dad that she wanted to quit.
Like most parents her father was trying to encourage her that things would get better with time but she was not buying it! Her crocodile tears were flowing down her face and she just kept on repeating how horrible she was at the game and how desperately she wanted to just quit.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
After a few back and forth comments I guess the dad finally had heard enough of the pity party and suddenly bent over, stared her in the eyes and with a stern look told her that if she continued to associate negative thoughts with playing soccer or anything else, she will never succeed.
Now as adults we know this to be true in our lives as well. Whether it’s in our health, finances, businesses or careers, we understand that the task is a uphill battle if the mind is not right but it’s amazing how often we forget.
Personally, I believe that negativity is the first cousin to fear and often times it keeps us from achieving our goals, dreams and desires (see Proverbs 23:7). That’s why I suggest that at least once a year, you put yourself on a diet.
A DIET THAT WILL MAKE YOU GAIN
About two months ago I decided to go on a diet and it’s still paying incredible dividends. This diet didn’t involve sacrificing my favorite foods but please don’t think it was any easier to get through it. Make no mistake about it, this diet tested my fortitude and commitment and it will do the same to you.
I’m referring to a MENTAL DIET and for seven days it will test every core of your being. But if you step up and take the challenge you will thank yourself a million times for doing it. Everything you need to know will be in this book called The Seven Day Mental Diet by Emmett Foxx. It’s a quick read (only nine pages) and the basis of the book is that for seven straight days your goal is to dwell on nothing negative.
Now as the author acknowledges in the book, we can’t always control what thoughts comes into our minds but we can definitely control what we choose to focus or dwell on.
SO ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
So I encourage you to go on this diet before the end of the year. I know this may sound nebulous or unimportant to follow through on but I believe this challenge, if taken seriously, will catapult you to the next level in your wealth, business, career and other areas.
Why? Because this diet will literally allow you to shed the toxic thinking, distractions, negativity, doubts and fears that we all deal with and it will show you how to put those thoughts in their proper place while providing the path of least resistance towards your purpose.
But don’t take my word, try it for yourself. Watch the 100 second video below then take the seven day diet challenge. After you’ve completed it make sure to share your experience and challenge others to step up and go on the diet as well.
I guarantee you’ll be a changed person for doing it!
